Of Motion

FOR VOCAL ENSEMBLE
(SSAA AND SATB VERSIONS AVAILABLE)

commissioned by the Sydney Children’s Choir

Of Motion was commissioned by the Sydney Children’s Choir for Gumura, a site-specific performance event centred around the Wharf in Sydney. Audiences travelled through the different spaces of Pier 2/3, brought alive by the voices of 400 choristers.

ABOUT THE WORK:

When I visited the Wharf, something that really struck me was the visceral sensation of trains passing over the Sydney Harbour Bridge - the movement of the objects themselves, but also a sense of the intersecting patterns and lives of the city. So Of Motion emulates this experience of a train passing - from the distance, rushing closer, and finally passing into the distance again.
